Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM)

The Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) is one of three major elements that comprise the JWST Observatory flight system. The others are the Optical Telescope Element (OTE) and the Spacecraft Element (Spacecraft Bus and Sunshield).

The ISIM is the Payload of the JWST. The ISIM includes the following instruments:

1. Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) - provided by the European Consortium (EC) (with the European Space Agency (ESA)) and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)

2. Near-Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) - provided by ESA

3. Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) - provided by the University of Arizona

4. Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) - provided by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). The FGS contains a dedicated Guider (FGS-Guider) and an FGS-Tunable Filter Camera (FGS-TF).
